Every year on Republic Day and Independence Day, a flower exhibition is organized in the premises of Lalbagh. The Lalbagh Botanical Garden was built by Hyder Ali in 1760 and was known as the Rose or Cypress Garden until 1856. He was influenced by his father, who worked for Dilawar Khan, a viceroy of the Mughals, and was particularly passionate about establishing gardens.
